Temp C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content. I was working on Microsoft Power Point 2007 (.5002) SP2 MSO (.5004) with an attached. I created an account here just to say a big thanks to Bill. Now try an Advanced Search of the Content.IE5 folder for the lost file, enabling searching for non-indexed, hidden and system files. Press Enter to open the hidden Content.IE5 folder.

That's why searching can't find the file. The problem is that Writer is saving edits to a temporary file created by WLM-a file which will be deleted when WLM is closed. They are opened in edit mode and any edits will be saved by Writer when hitting CTRL+S.
Writer does not open attachments from WLM in read-only mode.
How do I alert development to the problem? Trying to install Windows Live Mail on Windows 10 - posted in Windows 10 Support: I have just bought a HP Spectre x360 laptop running Windows 10 and the first thing Im trying to get set up is my. I do not know whether Microsoft Word does the same thing. In Windows 7, Open Office Writer 3.2.1 will open an attachment in read only mode, not alert the user to the fact that the document is open in read only mode, and allow the user to hit 'ctrl-s' thinking he is saving with no notification that nothing is happening. The only thing that I know of to do is save the original, which you indicate is still available, to a known location then do you edit.ĭnh wrote:I have replicated the problem. The document should have opened in "Read only" mode. Content searches do not reveal its location. Filename searches do not reveal its location. The original email attachment is still there but unedited. The Open/Recent menu points to a file that Open Office Writer cannot actually find. When I closed the document after saving, there was no error message asking whether I wanted to save or discard changes. There were no error messages telling me that Writer could not save. (Clearly, I ought to have explicitly saved to a known location, but.) I worked on the document, saving frequently.
in Windows 7 Starter by double-clicking on the attachment icon in Windows Live Mail.
